ABOUT

Jenny Liu (b. 2003, Beijing) is a Chinese American artist working primarily in oil painting. Based in New York City, she studied Visual Arts and Cell Biology at Rice University, with a parallel path toward medicine informing her attention to the body. Her practice centers on contemporary figurative painting, treating the body as an intimate and psychologically charged image. Across painting, drawing, and objects, she stages moments that feel private, ritualistic, and unresolved.

Through stillness, softness, and subtle distortion, Liu’s work resists fixed narrative. Her figures often appear suspended between tenderness and unease, inviting viewers to consider how femininity, memory, and desire are held in the body before they can be fully spoken.
